Geography Fun!

We are still on Christmas Break for a few more days, (which has been delightful, by the way) and  as the kids are sleeping in, I thought I’d update you all on a bit of change with our curriculum for the remainder of the school year.  The one subject I haven’t been  thrilled with this year, has been geography. My initial plan and thought was that it so would be good for the kids to really learn and memorize their states and capitals. With that in mind, I printed out a «curriculum » I found online called Sketch the States. We would go over information about each state and sketch the shape of the state and its flag. The  kids didn’t mind it too much at first, even enjoyed it, but over time, we all came  to find it a boring exercise instead of active fun learning. The kids and I were growing increasingly bored with it and I decided that I want us all to enjoy geography class for the rest of the school year.
